We’re kicking off our first season at Chinnor with a fantastic Blues singer / harmonica player - Stuart Maxwell. Every musician brings their own voice to a band and Stuart’s is a gritty, soulful unique offering, which suits the Blues perfectly. Stuart has fronted numerous successful Blues bands performing up and down the UK and in mainland Europe. He’ll be on stage with his newest incarnation featuring the highly energetic Maff Potts on keyboards, Paul Jefferies on bass and drummer extraordinaire Nick Millward on drums. Expect a great evening of classic ‘Chicago Chess-Records' style Blues.
Stuart Henderson Quartet

From possibly the highest echelon of military music service to jazz excellence throughout the UK, Stuart Henderson is one heck of a player and entertainer! His tone is mellifluous, his jazz language is fluent and he will bring to our second Chinnor Jazz Club concert two fistfuls of his favourite jazz trumpet classic from greats like Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, Chet Baker and many more. Stuart’s excellent rhythm section comprises a real north/south mix of pianist Dean Stockdale and renowned drummer Gaz Hughes plus southern bassist Paul Jefferies.
Ben Holder Quartet (BHQ)

Ben Holder’s own quartet (he performs as guest with hundreds of different musicians across Europe) affords him the opportunity to present 90 minutes of his own choice of jazz favourites with a sprinkling of rock and pop classics thrown in. Celebrated for his hugely entertaining ‘patter’ as well as sheer violin virtuosity, Ben can flip from Bach and Mozart to Django Reinhardt and Hoagy Carmichael in a coupe of bars - his rhythm section of Jez Cook (guitars), Paul Jefferies (bass) and Nick Millward (drums) are the perfect foil for Ben’s effervescence - rock solid and full of inventiveness they create the perfect sound ‘bed’ from which Ben can launch his excellent vocals, violin playing and piano playing.
