Multi-award winning Vasilis Xenopoulis is one of the UK’s finest jazz saxophonists. Graduating from America’s Berklee College of Music with honours, he’s worked with some of the finest musicians on the international scene during the last 20 years. His charismatic performances reveal a truly awesome technique, delicious tone and his respect for audiences and other musicians alike. Pianist Paul Eddis is described by The Jazz Journal as “a major voice in British Jazz …. an incredibly fertile composer and improviser”. Vasilis and Paul have created a show which puts melody and expression front and centre in their choice of music - some original, some truly classic repertoire. They’re joined on stage for this special show by Paul Jefferies (double bass) and top drummer Euan Palmer.

Trumpeter Paul Higgs made a lasting impression on the Burford Jazz audience when he performed earlier this year with Chris Ingham’s band. Since then, we’ve received numerous requests to invite him back - this time as a featured artist. We’re delighted to welcome him for his acclaimed show 'Shades of Miles', a celebration of the legendary trumpeter Miles Davis (remember the best selling jazz album of all time ‘Kind of Blue’)? The performance showcases how ‘Davis' was a pioneer of several major jazz movements in the 20th century, ultimately becoming a global icon. Paul Higgs' subtle and lyrical trumpet style is perfectly suited to Miles’ music, and he’ll be performing both well-loved classics and some lesser-known gems from the Miles Davis repertoire. Joining Paul on stage will be a stellar rhythm section: Jonathan Taylor on piano, Paul Jefferies on bass, and Charlie Stratford on drums.

Bob Bowles has been performing at blues clubs and conventions to critical acclaim for over 30 years and that sense of assertiveness and confidence really shows! A voice that blends Peter Green & Eric Clapton and a superbly edgy guitar style that is drenched with bluesy inflections will have you gripped from the very first bar. Bob’s rhythm section for this much anticipated concert will pianist/organist Maff Potts, bassist Paul Jefferies and drumming star Rob Bryan.

BD Lenz has been garnering a 5 star reputation in the UK for his superb bluesy jazz guitar playing and his ability to bring USA style 'power jazz' to UK venues and clubs. You’ll have heard his music on numerous TV shows perhaps without realising it, but he’s first and foremost a guitarist with passion for performing and we’re delighted to say he’ll be at our Burford Jazz Club in November on stage with saxophonist Andrew Hooley, drummer Nick Millward and bassist Paul Jefferies - don’t miss it….
